He has loved trains since childhood. Mart Hoogeveen (19) from Heerlen turned his passion into his profession and recently started working as a train driver for NS (Dutch Railways). Besides his normal duties, he has an extra passion: capturing train life on his social media channels.

20-year-old Mart is one of the most popular Dutch train drivers on TikTok. Here, he answers questions from followers and hopes to inspire peers to also work in the railways. ‘People have a one-sided image of the profession. I want to show how beautiful the work is and what is involved. I do that on TikTok. That’s where the people I want to reach are, the young people who are thinking about what profession they are going to choose.’
